The Stratford Brass Quintet
is one of the region’s
most entertaining and trusted musical ensembles.
Founded in 1996, by Dr. Mike Jarrett, the group’s
original mission was to provide an outreach service to
the schools serviced by Duncan Music Company.
Each of the members taught privately at Duncan Music
Teaching Studios and felt a faculty brass quintet would
further enhance the studio’s goal of being the recognized
source for excellence in performance and private study.
The quintet, by request, soon expanded the scope of its
performing venues and currently makes appearances
throughout North Carolina and Virginia, providing music
to churches, schools, business and civic organizations,
and private parties in addition to clinics, master classes,
and recitals. The diverse repertoire of SBQ includes
everything from classical to jazz, and sacred to secular.
