Born in Montgomery,
WV in 1951 but a resident of Greensboro since 1957, Greg Hyslop
has been a long-standing member of the piedmont North Carolina jazz
community. He graduated from Berklee College of Music (Boston) in 1977
and returned to his hometown to settle down and raise a family.
With his hollow-bodied electric guitar, Hyslop
performs straight ahead jazz with a bebop flavor. He has released two
recordings so far. The first was a session with Kenny Werner on piano
and John Riley on drums entitled Manhattan Date. This LP was rated four
stars in Down Beat Magazine. The second recording, simply titled The
Greg Hyslop Trio featured David Fox on piano and Charles Gambetta on
bass. This CD of chamber jazz includes two Hyslop originals and some
selected standards such as Jerome Kern’s Yesterdays. His CD may

Guitarist and church musician Ken Wilson was born in
Winston-Salem in 1952. He graduated from Wake Forest University in 1974
a the school’s first classical guitar major, having studied with
Jésus Silva and Robert Guthrie. He continued his musical studies
at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky,
receiving a Master’s Degree in Church Music (composition and classical
guitar) and the Doctor of Miscal Arts in conducting.
He also studied jazz guitar in Louisville with
Jeff Sherman at Bellamine College. During these years he taught guitar
at the seminary and at Kentucky State University.
