Harold Earl Myers, Jr.
Beloved father, brother, teacher and friend, passed away on October 17 at age 58.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 1 at 2:00pm
at Parkway United Church of Christ in Winston-Salem.
Mr. Myers received his Bachelor of Music degree from NC School of the Arts,
and went on to receive a
Master’s degree in piano performance at SUNY Stonybrook.
Mr. Myers was an accomplished professional musician who enlivened the
North Carolina music community with inspiring performances.
He composed lyrical, heartfelt piano pieces and songs.
He performed with groups including Piedmont Opera,
Winston-Salem Children’s Chorus and Piedmont Wind Symphony,
and at many private venues including Forsyth Country Club, The Piedmont Club,
Graylyn Conference Center, Winston-Salem Friends Meeting, Parkway UCC,
Baptist Hospital, Salem College, Wake Forest University, and UNC-Charlotte.
He taught intermittently at NCSA as a theory instructor and collaborated
with countless singers and instrumentalists as a patient, energetic, and caring accompanist.
Additionally, he was a dedicated and gifted private piano teacher who nurtured
hundreds of students over the past three decades.
Mr. Myers is the son of the late Juanita and Harold Earl Myers, Sr. of Charlotte.
He is survived by his two darling children:
son Alexander Myers of Winston-Salem;
and daughter Lauren Myers and her husband Steven Jax of Philadelphia PA.
He also is survived by his former wife Francie Demby of Winston-Salem,
his sister Jeanette Roddey of Charlotte and her family,
and his brother Danny Myers of Indian Trail and his family.

Harold Earl Myers was a dear friend and colleague, and a wonderful father.
He had a huge heart and boundless generosity,
and he will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he had touched.
